Using Personality Type Distinctions to Foster Better Volunteerism

One of the articles on the E-Volunteerism journal site described the advantages of using personality type distinctions of individuals in the effort to match them to the best volunteer opportunities within an organization. The article describes the use of the MBTI Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a effective way to help make that match. There is an abstract of the article that can be accessed without a membership at this Link. One of the comments on that page makes the point that having a conversation with the volunteer in which they share their intuition about their personality style might be useful even without the use of formal tools. Bottom line, it makes sense to put some effort into making sure the person volunteering is a good match for the anticipated activities.
